MATCH REPORT: ASHANTIGOLD 1:0 DREAMS FC, MINERS MAINTAIN LEAGUE LEAD

Ashantigold SC clashed with Dreams FC at the Len Clay Stadium in a midweek encounter at the Matchday 11 of the ongoing Ghana premier league.

Missing the services of injured captain Amos Addai and Mark Agyekum, Coach Yakubu Sherrif Mambo resulted to an relatively similar setup as compared to the team that played against Asante Kotoko last Sunday. The only changes made was the replacement of Amos Nkrumah with Emmanuel Owusu and Benjamin Eshun with Benedict Wobenu.

Dreams FC handed starting roles to Kingsley Owusu, Prince Okraku and goal keeper Godfred Amoah. Veteran forward Eric Gawu commenced the game from the bench.

After series of counter breaks, coupled with a dominant Miners in terms of possession, the first half of the game ended barren.

In search of an important goal, Coach Yakubu Mambo introduced Benjamin Eshun and Emmanuel Owusu for Appiah Maccarthy and Emmanuel Osei Baffour.

After series of incessant pressure, The miners took the lead courtesy an own goal from Abdulai Ibrahim at the 80th minute.

The earlier introduction of Eric Gawu and Ibrahim Issah led to an improved attacking football from the visitors.

In maintaining the lead, Ashantigold introduced defender Richard Osei Agyemang for Benedict Wobenu.

The Miners held on to their lead, as they maintained the top spot in the ongoing Ghana Premier league.

The team will resume training on Thursday to prepare for Achicken FC at the round of 64 of the MTN FA Cup competition.
